PITCH Vol. 2

Featured Artists

  • Cameron Breze

    EAST END

The work featured in PITCH is an assortment of portraits taken over the past two years. The two double exposures of Dustin were taken on Ferrania Orto - a film stock derived from an old Italian cinema line in Los Angeles. The kaleidoscopic images with Evan were generated while creating material for his recent music release under the artist's name "MUTO COUNTY" this past summer in Pittsburgh. The two portraits of Joe were also taken on a Ferrania film stock, this time Ferrania P30, in my studio in the East End before Joe moved to NYC. The portrait of Luke was a shutter drag portrait borrowing inspiration from fellow rust-belt photographer Nick Fancher, most known for his colorful applications of mixed lighting. The final portrait of Megan is an homage to some of the early work of Tyler Shields and was captured in Erie, PA, but processed by hand in my studio with an E-6 development kit.

    SWISSVALE

This series is called: Thank you Sharpsburg. These photos of Sharpsburg reflect a quietness that was welcomed in a specific season of my life. I needed the quiet. Thank you Sharpsburg.

  • Arya Datta

    HIGHLAND PARK

This collection all derives from various works of mine, including images from my short film Fishbone alongside photoshoots. The collection focuses on the concept of self appreciation with an emphasis on the beauty & importance of our eyes and skin. I hope to convey the weight of how eyes can make someone feel, and I hope that viewers can walk away with a newfound appreciation for themselves.

  • Will Gautier

    BROOKLINE

I am a black-and-white photographer and resident physician in Pittsburgh, PA. My work concerns life and its residues. I try to work with a flash whenever I can. For some reason, a camera can only make vague depictions despite its irrepressibly specific point-of-view. There’s something wrong about a photograph. I love that. I want to almost know. Sometimes what I see feels like a sigh. That’s what I’m after.

  • Mandy L. Kendall

Mandy L. Kendall is a photographic artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, PA. She currently works in infrared, stereo, and experimental photography. Her work primarily focuses on the remnants of lost relationships and our ever-evolving relationship with and impact on the landscape.

  • George Poelcher

His work focuses on documenting human interactions and portraits through street photography, made mostly in 35mm black-and-white film with the Minolta SRT-200 and X-700. He cites the current street photography scene in New York City as a continued source of inspiration to document modern life of the average American.
